Grants

Polaroid Fund

The Polaroid Fund and the Acushnet Foundation, two CFSEMA funds, are once again teaming up to develop the Greater New Bedford work force by making up to $112,500 in grants available for adult education and family literacy programs. The Polaroid Fund distributes $100,000 annually to promote the career advancement and economic security of residents of the Greater New Bedford area. This year an additional $12,500 is being made available to support these efforts from the Acushnet Foundation Fund. The total available funds of $112,500 will be distributed as follows: a total of $87,500 from the Polaroid Fund will support career advancement/economic security programming, with an emphasis on making English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Adult Basic Education (ABE), and General Education Development (GED) classes available for all who need them. Another $25,000 – half from the Polaroid Fund and half from the Acushnet Foundation Fund – will support family literacy programs that integrate early literacy programming for children birth to three years old with ABE/ESOL and parenting courses.
